Clear The Air!
This post may read as somewhat trivial to some individuals. A silly, pointless topic simply taking up not so valuable cyber space but I encourage you to read on.
For most of my life I lived in an ever growing and increasingly polluted city. This, of course, was the City of Gold, Johannesburg. In the latter years, the pollution levels have really risen to very uncomfortable levels. In fact, it is so bad now that one can actually not only see it in the atmosphere but on all surfaces and building façades.
If you recognise in yourself the type of person who loves the hustle and bustle of harried city life, consider the health implications. This is part of the reason why I recently moved away from it all. That, and the beach of course!
The changes are palpable and quite astounding even though expected. The air is visibly clearer in Cape Town (when there is no cloud cover) and you can see clearly for much further – again when the weather is clear!
Another very evident difference is the dust. Yes, you read correctly, the stuff that just keeps appearing most uninvitedly on surfaces. In Johannesburg, the dust ranges from dark to pitch black! What does this mean? Cough Cough…
I used to work in one of the busiest parts of the city and very close to a freeway. In essence we were experiencing the joys of pollution at its most evil. That black dust is really various pollutants such as the dust and fibres from car brakes, manufacturing smog, and all other such modern sources.
So the dust is black! Who cares? Well, your lungs for one might! You absorb a lot of the pollution through both your lungs and also your skin. Since there is no control over exactly how much you consume during the course of your City Life, you are held to health’s ransom.
The Dust Bunnies in Cape Town are a delightful white/beige colour! Yes, I know, the colour is also because the beach is a very pale colour here. The main reason though is a substantial absence of airborne sooty pollution.
Now if I could just house train the numerous Dust Bunnies to go live next door!

Don't stop Joe , Maybe you can ghost write my sex life …LOL>. Now that could get interesting ..
Thanks John 🙂 I certainly look forward to better days ahead!
Thanks Jo! Reading this reminded me of my exit from Jo-HELL-isburg 9 years ago … trust be, you are being "reborn" and on a far grander scale than any happy clapper has ever experienced!
I hope The Mother City embraces you with her love and lessons – she is a wise teacher with many temptations and illusions, but those who embrace her essence grow to love her more and more … welcome!
