Recycling

Oh look! A green tri-arrow logo! Pretty! It makes people feel better but does it do much to alleviate the problem?
While we need to be concerned, it is simply not enough to become recycle friendly. Why? Well, the reality is that recycling alone cannot reverse the damage that has been done already.
We need to change our own demands and patterns to bring about a concerted effort on a global scale.
So we need to become more conscious of buying products that need minimal recycling. We should also be vocalising our needs and desires to everyone who will listen and who may have some influence.
So if a product is way over packaged, let the manufacturer or suppliers know. Tell them you will boycott the product and select another which is more “green”.
It is our greed and need for convenience that is creating this problem. We need to take a little time to be less selfish and more conscious of our choices. Try to buy as many products in packaging that can be reused instead of HAVING to be recycled. Does anyone still recall when fizzy drinks were sold in reusable bottles instead of plastic?
Let us not encourage our future society’s foundations to be built on what we dispose of today but rather on intelligent concepts and practices.
